General Fakirs

FORUMS EMERGE
However not too far into its history scottss.com went pay and included the forum in that pay-site. It meant that fakirs would have to pay the same as the fake collectors just to post their fakes in the forum. This didn't work and even with fakirs recruiting other fakirs from the groups to scottss.com with free "fakir passes" it left a big gap in the market, And this was jumped upon by the Laundr-o-mat. The Black Devils who had been up to this point nothing more than a loose group of fakirs joined together by nothing more than a toplist, joined forces under "fastu" to create a free fakirs forum. Thus the Laundr-o-mat was born, and with scottss being a pay-site and The House of Victoria falling into disrepair quickly "The mat" became the biggest fakirs forum on the net. The mat continued to be the biggest community in faking for the next few years but at that time signed their own fate. The Black Devils adopted an interesting way to keep interest and post counts up at the mat. This idea was to pick a member and play pranks on them/bullshit them until they either left the forum, or the black devils got bored and banned them. Once that member left another victim was found and the same thing happened over again. The mat could do this successfully for one reason, there was no other major faking forum to go to. However this all changed after the creation of the Strip faking forum. The Strip changed the way faking forums were run by making contests, competitions, duels and material a major part of their forum. This created a competitive aspect to faking between fellow fakirs forcing fakirs to constantly improve and find new features to increase the quality of the fakes. The biggest aspect was the "great fake cup" which put fakirs in teams and pulled in "hunters" to be active participants in the fakirs team. As fakirs now had a choice of which forum they wanted to be a part of the mat now became smaller and smaller. This lead to a rivalry between the forums that was never settled. Also at this time faking styles widely changed from realism to artistic. This also has a part to play in the mat and strip saga as the strip members widely preferred the artistic style while the mat members stuck with realism. The strip became and stayed the most popular faking forum until it closed in 2005. Once its closure occurred the New fake city basically took its place as the new strip and continued to its success. Updated for 2006.
