THE
INTERVIEW
CelebFakirs.com: Why the Faking
Alias?
Darklyte: It's the handle that I used for my e-mail and IM accounts. It
was inspired by a comic called "Warlands". I thought it sounded nifty
when I was younger lol.
CelebFakirs.com: How did you find out celebrity
faking existed?
Darklyte: Gather 'round, children as this is a sad tale of loneliness
and raging hormones. I must have been around 12-13. Back then, Britney
Spears was still hot and not at all the cow that we know today. It was
the period in my life where I had just started the whole "bodily
self-discovery" thingy so I googled up naked pics of Britney and
stumbled upon TFP's infamous Britney Interview fake. And that, kids, is
how uncle Darky learned about fakes... and masturbation. Mostly
masturbation.
CelebFakirs.com: What was the first fake you ever
saw and who faked it?
Darklyte: TFP's Britney Interview... but I guess you know that by now
lol.
CelebFakirs.com: What made you get into faking?
Darklyte: It was a combination of things, really. A friend of mine had
just discovered Photoshop and was showing me some of the stuff that he
was doing and I was pretty impressed with what that you could achieve
with that proggie. However, it wasn't until I saw MrOwl's basic faking
tut in the winter of 2003, that I was compelled to actually use
Photoshop and experiment with it for the first time. I've never looked
back since then.
CelebFakirs.com: Who was the lucky celeb who was
first faked by yourself?
Darklyte: SMG... anyone surprised? lol
CelebFakirs.com: When did you do your first fake?
Darklyte: If memory serves right, it was in December of 2003 but it
wasn't Posted until January of 2004, when I signed up on the Strip.
CelebFakirs.com: Who has been the biggest
influence in your faking career to date?
Darklyte: Stylistically, I'd have to say Hypo, Proto and DocFakenhouser.
That said, Heinzy, Hooty, TFP and Holden (along with the aforementioned
fakirs) also get mad props for putting up with all my stupid questions
and being willing to wip me for hours when I need it.
CelebFakirs.com: Who would you consider to be the
best fakir around at the moment?
Darklyte: Define "best" blah blah, everyone has their own strengths blah
blah, depends on your tastes blah blah... Proto.
I guess that was kinda blunt but his fakes are technically flawless, he
has imagination coming out of the wazoo and he's super-duper sweet and
funny. The bottom line is that Proto is the whole damn package... Oh my
god I think I'm in love with him. Doesn't mean that I won't surpass him
one day, though. You mark my words... ish.
CelebFakirs.com: Who would you consider to be the
best fakir of all time?
Darklyte: I'd say DocFakenhouser and Vincent. More than the awesome
video-fakes and the superb fake images, that duo just revolutionized the
way the faking community was perceived, in my opinion.
I admire them a lot because they always took the time to help newbies
out and stood up for their convictions without ever censoring others
(I'll always remember being surprised at seeing how eloquent Fakenhouser
was lol). They weren't only great fakirs but also great people.
CelebFakirs.com: And for the future, do you see
any fresh faces that you think will go on to be the best one day?
Darklyte: For sure. There are new people joining the community everyday
and I'm surprised time and time again at how fast some of them improve.
CelebFakirs.com: What do you consider to be your
best fake to date?
Darklyte: Honestly, I'm kinda torn. I'm just gonna throw this one out
there because I don't think it got enough exposition... I remember
Heinzy and Fakenhouser riding my ass about this one back in Cup X
because I posted an alternate version that ended up giving my team less
points lol.
CelebFakirs.com: What has been the highlight of
your career so far?
Darklyte: Finally, an easy question! The Fusion project is by far the
greatest thing I have achieved to date... but I can't take all the
credit for that. All the people involved did wonderful jobs.
CelebFakirs.com: Why the alter-ego choice?
Darklyte: When I started out, I used to use my fakes as avatars. Over
time, people just came to identify me with SMG and it just kinda stuck.
I remember having a brief stint as Batman but all the people who used to
flirt with me - especially Heinzy - dissuaded me from doing this,
saying that it just wasn't me.
CelebFakirs.com: If you could marry any celeb who
would it be?
Darklyte: Bill Gates, but just for the money.
CelebFakirs.com: And who would be you're bit on
the side?
Darklyte: Either SMG, Amy Lee, Charlize Theron, Rachel McAdams, Jessica
Alba, Angelina Jolie, Elisha Cuthbert, Scarlet Johanson, Katie Holmes or
Hypo.
CelebFakirs.com: Do you have funny stories to tell
us?
Darklyte: This one time, at fake camp...
CelebFakirs.com: Where do you see yourself in 5,
10 years time?
Darklyte: Still active, still trying to surpass Proto lol. I love the
community. I can't see myself leaving it anytime soon
CelebFakirs.com: Where do you see the faking world
being in 5, 10 years time?
Darklyte: Who knows? Maybe one day another Fakenhouser will come along
with a vision that will change things completely... maybe he/she is
already among us... or maybe things will remain exactly the same. Do I
look like a seer? lol
CelebFakirs.com: Is there anything that you would
like to add?
Darklyte: 1 + 1
CelebFakirs.com: Finally.... Celebrity fakes, art
or porn?
Darklyte: Porn. Obviously.
